And the things that you see……

I’m sure lots of folks have seen a photo of the Point Reyes Shipwreck…. it’s been photograph by thousands of photographers….. sad to hear a few weeks back some thoughtless people caught the back side of the boat on fire….basically burn off the stern part of the boat….. sad to say it was photographers playing with fire…..for some photos….My thinking is we still have most of the boat…..for photographers to still take photos of…….a few years back their wanted to remove the wreck….but it was saved by a of folks many were photographers………sad that photographers almost destroyed it……

A game of cards…..

There are times…..today that it seems as everyone is protesting…and speaking just for me it was my generation in the 60’s that for the most part started civil disorder…….. I as a young man with no real life experience always was happy with someone that wanted to give me something for free……. I have faded memories of the summer of Love…..1967…. and the summer 1968 my memories of the heartache that went along with that year and how we would sit and talk with our friends about how will we have a future…..it seemed as if we had no future….but for most of the protest we really never wanted to destroy things break windows steal things…..with all of the violence in today’s protest I for the most part could not tell you what they are protesting……and the minute I see fires or windows being broken…..I turn away….. I was very close during the 1% protest in Oakland…..and was amazed at the face most protester did not know what they were protesting…….but the other night I was out taking photos and I seen this lady on the corner in china town… I decided to do something I rarely do…..talk to someone on the street that I may or might take a photo of….I asked her why she was doing this….what she told me broke my heart….and it was so personal  I’m not going to repeat it…..because her protest was that of a promise she made…….and for many years she has been keeping that promise…..and as I walk away I said “Image That….Someone keeping their promise……..

As it goes some selfies are just better…….especially when someone makes an effort to take one that is something special…. So much more interesting then what you ate last night for dinner…..

Well it only seems like yesterday….. but it was really 2 years ago today…..another joy entered my life….. Happy Birthday Lily….Papa loves you…..

I always say it’s where you are able to go and who you can go there with……. that makes the simplest place magic…..I’m so lucky to live in a place that can give me this on any given day….and the gift to share it with friends…… The View from Fort Point to the City……Oh what a day…..

With a camera you capture little bits of time…..it might be a moment of tragedy, or a moment of fun….a child’s happy face at a surprise……..a moment of kindness…..someone helping someone with no other reason but kindness……a moment of love…..watching two people walking hand in hand……young…old… it really does not matter…..but sometimes the beauty is not what’s in front of the camera…..sometimes the beauty is what’s behind the camera…….

There’s nothing better then a walk down the beach as the sun goes down….. and nothing better then to share that walk….
